    RCC 1st XI v Kingsley - Sat 23rd July

A good day for the Badrock boys helped bring a much- needed end to Romiley’s winless spell. The talented twins threw off the disappointment of Tuesday’s U18s’ semi-final loss at Stretford to star in our 10-wicket rout of Kingsley. Paceman James returned career-best figures of 4-9 besides taking a smart catch as the fifth-placed side were bowled out for 65 in the 31st over. And David, stand in opener for Tom Rolph, finished unbeaten on 36 as he and Rick Holt(28no) knocked off the runs. With Second Division front runners Lindow and Winnington Park both picking up more 25-point wins, it was vital that we matched them and broke our five- game barren Cheshire League streak. Kingsley won the toss, surprisingly batted first on a pitch made soft by midweek rain and never looked happy. Only Martin(14) and Leneghan(10) reached double figures as Alex Barber and his bowlers put them under unceasing pressure. And it was James Badrock, replacing his skipper at the top end, who finished them off. They could not cope with his pace and accuracy. James’ confidence was high after taking a wicket in his first over and he wound up the innings by removing three more in eight balls. The last four wickets went down for eight runs and Kingsley would have been even more embarrassed without the 18 extras that boosted their meagre total.
Then it was cue in David Badrock who, with Holt, went about his business calmly and without fuss as they chased their tiny target. The ball rarely passed their bats and loose balls were punished. They needed just over 23 of the 60 overs on offer to clinch the points. Now we must go on a run……
    Scores: Kingsley 65(31.1 overs; Martin 14; J Badrock 4-9, Barber 4-21, D Garner 1-9, P Hooton 1-5). Ro miley 68-0(23.4 overs; D Badrock 36no, Holt 28no).
