    Lymm OP v Romiley 1st XI - 20/20 Cup - 21st July

Romiley are closing in on their first silverware of the season. Alex Barber’s men reached the Cheshire League’s 20/20 Cup final with a 17-run win at Lymm Oughtrington Park on Thursday. Now they face either Cholmondeley or Weaverham at Kingsley on Sept.4. Romiley, bowled out for 126, looked to be some 20 runs short of comfort against a side that had scored 200-plus in their quarter-final win.  And we only reached that total after some lusty late hitting by Paul Hooton. But tight bowling and even tighter fielding, always had Lymm struggling. These were backed by some superb catching, particularly by Danny Oldland, running 30 yards to take a diving boundary catch, Dave Garner and Dave Badrock. Dave also took two wickets with his leg spinners, refusing to buckle when the pressure was on. Finally, Stuey Milne broke Lymm resistance with two wickets in 10 balls.
    Scores: Romiley(19overs)  126(Hooton 28), Lymm OP(19.4 overs) 109(McIntosh 32; Milne 2-7, D Badrock 2-24, Barber 2-26, M Flattley 1-13, Hooton 1-17).
