ust in case anybody missed the result, the rain affected game (well it was Sunday) ended in a tie.

Stockport scored 207 in their 40 overs and our reply ended, after the rain break and in the dark, at 181 off 35 overs, according to Stockport (182 according to our scorer, birthday boy and Chairman)

That meant the result had to be decided on scoring rate. Stockport had 5.175, Romiley according to Stockport scorer, 5.171 (Mick's came to 5.2). The tie was declared which was about a fair a result as we could have had in the circumstances.

Congratulations to all but especially to Mark Smith who batted superbly after the rain break to put us in the position to get a result. He was backed up by cameo performances from Sam Berry and Ollie Rowe who had to push the scoring to make up for the openers slow start before the break. Also let's not forget Tom Roberts who took 4 catches and Mike Shenton with 5 wickets.

Well done as well to team coach Malc Berry and the supporting crowd who stuck it till the 'bitter' end to cheer and clap every run, we had to do that just to keep warm. The wind chill is just about out of my bones. The opposite to Alex Barber who ran off back to the warmth of Romiley before the excitement began.

A great weekend all round.

Thanks Iain; Great Summary (saves me thinking of the words for presentation night), Great Result – I’m sure like me, the lad’s feel we got the ‘WIN’ as Stockport were clearly ahead when the rain came, Great Crowd – not just those who stuck it out but ALL on the day – it makes the difference, and a Great Team – as the Stockport Captain now knows we (Billy & I, informed him during the break) DO bat to number 11. Great Weekend for RCC.
